2016 Recipient - RACHEL HATTON

The Ballet in the City Scholarship (formerly The Misty Copeland Scholarship) was established in 2015 to honor Ms. Copeland by providing opportunities for African American dancers in classical ballet. To continue this legacy, Ballet in the City will award two $400 scholarships to The American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensives (or to an alternate program of the applicant's choice) to one male and one female African American dancer. The 2017 recipients should be not only hardworking in the studio, but also demonstrate upstanding character.
